Well, in a way there is a partial truth there. You do not always need to have a product in certain marketing situations (like affiliate marketing)...but if you want to have real success online, even as an affiliate you need your own products to offer, at least as bonuses when people buy through your links right ? How many emails have you got from the top affiliates who have their own products to offer as bonuses for the latest and greatest course !
You may argue: 'Yes, but creating a product is extremely difficult! It's tough to get the material to create the product from scratch. Then there's the issue of marketing it, list building, generating traffic and all that follow up stuff!'
